YMCA Branch in Charlotte to Close After January 2025

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A YMCA branch in a busy southwest Charlotte neighborhood is closing shortly after the new year, a spokesperson confirmed.
The location inside Ayrsley Town Center will close after January 31, 2025, following the YMCA’s decision not to renew its lease.
“Moving forward, we are refocusing our efforts through longstanding and valued partnerships with Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and Christ the King Church,” the spokesperson stated. “Together, we are developing plans to offer health and wellness programs within these local churches, bringing YMCA services directly into the heart of the community.”
Current programs at partner sites in Steele Creek will continue as normal, ensuring community engagement remains a priority.
“This shift enables us to create welcoming spaces where individuals and families can engage with the YMCA closer to home while continuing to deliver the community-building experiences that our members value,” the representative added.
Steele Creek YMCA members will continue to have full access to locations across Greater Charlotte, providing them with alternative fitness and wellness options.
