Governor Reynolds’ Deliberation
Following the resignation of Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg, Governor Kim Reynolds has expressed that she is in no rush to appoint a new lieutenant governor. She mentioned having a few names in mind but emphasized the importance of taking her time to ensure the right choice is made. Radio Iowa reported her saying, “I want to make sure I take the time and get the right person there.”
Adam Gregg’s New Role
Adam Gregg resigned to become the president and CEO of the Iowa Bankers Association, a role that advocates for and provides resources to Iowa banks. His departure marks the end of a significant chapter in Iowa politics, where he served alongside Reynolds since 2017.
Succession Plan
Until a new lieutenant governor is appointed, Iowa Senate President Amy Sinclair will be next in line of succession. Reynolds has not disclosed any potential candidates for the position yet.

Governor Reynolds has not revealed her plans for the 2026 election or her considerations for a running mate.
