Matthew John Humphrey, affectionately known as Matt, passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 54. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, whose impact as a coach and occupational therapist was felt by many. His kindness and gentle spirit made him a beloved figure in the lives of those he touched.
Born on September 11, 1969, in Ridgewood, New Jersey, Matt grew up in Houston, Texas, where he developed a passion for basketball. He earned his degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch and began his career as an occupational therapist, first in Texas and later in Southern Utah. He married Kerry Ann in New York, and together they embraced the beauty of Utah, enjoying hiking and camping while raising their family.
Matt was known for his positive energy, determination, and great sense of humor. He cherished moments spent hunting with his sons Zane and Noah, snuggling with his daughter Tatum, and playing with his beloved pets. His love for his wife Kerry Ann was profound, and he often expressed his creativity through rhymes and songs for his family.
He is survived by his wife Kerry Ann, children Zane, Noah, and Tatum, brothers Mark and Todd, sister Adele, and many friends who will remember his infectious laughter. He was preceded in death by his parents John R. and Eileen Humphrey and brother Paul.
A memorial service was held on August 5 at Balcony One in Virgin, Utah. Matt’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
His family expresses gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. The love shown reflects the void left by Matt and his enduring legacy.
