Warrior Wellness Center

Introduction

On September 17, 2024, a ceremonial groundbreaking event took place in Frankfort, Ohio, marking the beginning of the construction of the Warrior Wellness Center. This center is strategically located next to the Adena Local Schools’ Bostic Field football and track stadium.

Features of the Wellness Center

The Warrior Wellness Center is set to include a primary health clinic, a pharmacy, a community wellness and activity center, and offices for behavioral health services. Additionally, it will feature a walking track for year-round exercise and locker rooms for school athletes.

Construction Timeline

According to Superintendent Dr. Matt Unger, construction is expected to begin in March 2025, with completion projected for April 2026. The medical office section may open as early as Fall 2025.

Funding and Support

The project is funded by a $5.7 million grant from The Appalachian Children’s Health Initiative through the Ohio Department of Development. Initially, a $1.7 million local match was required, but due to increased costs, the match is now closer to $4 million. Importantly, no new tax levy was needed.

Community Impact

Adena Health CEO Jeff Graham emphasized the importance of keeping healthcare accessible. The center aims to serve not only athletes but the entire school and community. Lydia Mihalik, Director of Development, highlighted the collaborative nature of such projects, rewarding communities for their teamwork and vision (source).
