Join the THRIVE 5-week Walking Challenge
The UNMC Center for Healthy Living is excited to announce the “THRIVE 5-week Walking Challenge” starting on September 9. This initiative aims to encourage participants to integrate more physical activity into their daily lives, particularly during long periods of sitting at work or school. The program is free and open to the entire med center community, including students, employees, and members of the Center for Healthy Living. Interestingly, you don’t need to be a member to participate in the challenge.
Participants can register for the challenge on the Center for Healthy Living website. Upon registration, participants will receive a walking plan along with a guide for desk exercises and stretching. Additionally, group walking meetups are scheduled every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the challenge.
At the conclusion of the challenge, participants can submit their walking logs via email to receive a prize. This walking challenge is part of a broader series of THRIVE wellness events planned for the academic year. The first THRIVE walking challenge in June 2024 saw over 200 participants, and the program aims to increase participation this fall. A partner challenge is also planned for late October.
