“No one prepared us for menopause and said, ‘Learn how to weight train.’ The reason we need to weight train is for bone density, bone health, and osteoporosis. It shifts your hormones, kicks up your metabolism, and creates strength,” Burke said. She added, “It’s the first time I’m really adding heavy weights. Heavy for me is like 10-pound arms. I’ve always added heavy weights to my booty burn programs to build curves in the glute muscles.”
Diet and Nutrition
Burke emphasizes the importance of proper nutrition. “Depriving your body of what it needs – food – is something I recommend you don’t do. I feel like we are in a phase of quick fixes and fad diets. I am eating more, I’m leaner, stronger, and more satisfied. I have more energy. I’m eating nutrient-dense foods and more protein,” she said.
Intermittent Fasting
Burke also practices intermittent fasting in the morning. “I do it with intention and put full cream in my coffee. The younger me? No chance. I’m feeling my body with that. I’m satisfied and I’m eating really well. Flavorful meals, herbs, spices, oils – it’s a different way of approaching wellness,” she shared.
