Wellhub Expands European Reach with Acquisition of Urban Sports Club

Wellhub, a leading global corporate wellbeing platform, recently announced the acquisition of Urban Sports Club, a notable provider of corporate wellness programs across Europe. This strategic move is set to enhance Wellhub’s reach in the wellness sector, providing access to a network of gyms, studios, and fitness apps.
A Strong Partnership for Wellness
Urban Sports Club offers a unique platform allowing users flexibility in booking fitness sessions across various facilities and services. With this acquisition, Wellhub will serve over 34,500 corporate clients and 83,000 partners, meeting the rising demand for robust corporate wellness solutions.

CEO of Wellhub, Cesar Carvalho, highlighted the importance of this acquisition, stating, ‘Urban Sports Club’s deep-rooted presence in Europe makes them an ideal partner as we meet the surging demand for holistic corporate wellness solutions.’ This partnership is expected to empower businesses to enhance employee health and engagement.
Leadership Transition
Co-founders Moritz Kreppel and Benjamin Roth of Urban Sports Club will be joining Wellhub’s global leadership team, ensuring the continuation of their established approach to wellness.
Focus on Mental Health
Parallel to this acquisition, Wellhub has expanded its collaboration with Headspace, combining resources to strengthen mental health support for employees. Wellhub saw a remarkable 48% growth in mental health offerings last year, underlining the rising importance of mental wellbeing in the workplace.

Dr. Ines Hungerbühler at Wellhub emphasizes that ‘workplace stress has become the primary driver of mental health challenges.’ The integration with Headspace aims to provide personalized support to help manage stress and enhance overall employee resilience.
As Urban Sports Club operates independently post-acquisition, both entities aim to innovate in the health and wellness industry, paving the way for comprehensive employee benefits and wellness initiatives.
