WINCHESTER, Va. (WHSV) – Valley Health and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation marked a significant milestone as they celebrated the groundbreaking of a new $75 million Rehabilitation Tower at Winchester Medical Center (WMC).

Set to open in 2026, this state-of-the-art facility aims to centralize various rehabilitation services currently offered at 333 W. Cork Street and the Valley Health Wellness Center. The new tower will feature comprehensive services, including inpatient rehab, outpatient therapy, and prosthetic options. A climate-controlled skywalk will connect the new tower to the main hospital.

Valley Health CEO Mark Nantz shared the vision for the project, stating, ‘This partnership will allow Valley Health to care for a more specialized and complex patient population.’ He emphasized the necessity for advanced rehabilitation care, affirming that ‘Our community deserves the advanced rehabilitation care that Mary Free Bed delivers.’

This collaboration, initiated in 2024, aims to enhance patient services and bring all rehabilitation offerings under one roof, as stated by Kent Riddle, CEO of Mary Free Bed. ‘We’re building the kind of destination rehabilitation center our communities have needed for so long,’ he remarked.

The new tower represents a significant investment in the future of healthcare in Winchester, promising improved access to critical rehabilitation services for the region.
