Trial Delayed for Former Midkota Superintendent Charged with Child Exploitation
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The upcoming trial for Ryan Wayne Baron, a former superintendent of Midkota Public Schools, facing serious federal charges of child sexual exploitation, has been postponed. The trial was originally scheduled to commence on January 14, but will now take place on May 6.
Court documents reveal that the delay was granted following a request from the defense counsel, who sought more time to investigate and prepare the case. The trial is expected to last approximately four days.
Background on the Charges
Baron was arrested in November after a forensic examination uncovered 623 files suspected to contain child pornography on devices seized from him. Authorities allege that these files included videos depicting minors in compromising situations.
This is not Baron’s first brush with the law. In 2021, he was convicted of a petty misdemeanor for trespassing at a school in Minnesota, incidentally occurring during his first year as superintendent at Ulen-Hitterdal.
Allegations of Further Criminal Activity
In addition to Baron’s charges, another individual, Aaron Doss, is also facing legal action related to this case. Reports suggest that Doss and Baron were allegedly exchanging exploitative pictures of a 12-year-old girl from Fargo.
The situation has raised considerable concern within the community and underscores the importance of vigilance with regard to the safety of children in educational environments.
As the trial approaches, many will be watching closely to see how these serious allegations are addressed in court.
