Three Schools Awarded NFL PLAY 60 Grants to Enhance Student Fitness

AHA and NFL Award Schools for Student Fitness

DALLAS, April 8, 2025 — The American Heart Association (AHA) and the NFL joined forces once again to promote physical activity among students. This collaboration culminated in the awarding of $1,000 grants to three deserving schools as part of their NFL PLAY 60 Exercise Blitz.

Promoting Health Through Exercise

The initiative, designed to encourage students to engage in physical activities, focused on a blend of cardio and strength exercises, as outlined in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ guidelines. Schools participated by having students complete a five-day exercise video series, culminating in the award of grants based on random selection.

The winners include Douglas Road Elementary in Lambertville, Michigan, representing the Detroit Lions; LaMuth Middle School in Painesville, Ohio, representing the Cleveland Browns; and Cook-Wissahickon School in Philadelphia, representing the Philadelphia Eagles.

Statements from Leaders

“At the American Heart Association, our future is all about improving yours,” said Nancy Brown, CEO of the AHA. “We have been dedicated to inspiring kids to get moving for over 18 years through NFL PLAY 60.”

Anna Isaacson, NFL Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility, added, “Every year, NFL PLAY 60 helps students achieve their daily goal of 60 minutes of play through our innovative app.”

The Importance of Active Lifestyles

In addition to the grants, the AHA offers various resources, such as the NFL PLAY 60 app, which allows students to participate in tailored workout sessions and earn rewards.

With a widespread focus on reducing sedentary behavior, the collaboration aims to instill healthy habits in children that can lead to a healthier future.
