Survey Reveals Growing Trend in Health and Wellness Travel
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 9, 2025 – As travelers navigate through an uncertain economic landscape, a recent survey conducted by Squaremouth, a leading travel insurance comparison service, indicates a strong shift towards prioritizing health and wellness during travel.
According to the survey, *
- 24% of respondents are planning a health and wellness-focused trip within the next year, marking a 51% rise compared to last year.
- 85% view rest and relaxation as their primary travel goals.
Ned Tadic, Manager of Public Relations at Squaremouth, elaborates, ‘Travelers are seeking opportunities to escape and prioritize their mental and physical well-being. This surge in wellness-focused trips is not just a fleeting trend but a reflection of a growing desire for meaningful travel experiences in today’s uncertain climate.’
However, this trend emerges against a backdrop of rising travel costs. Squaremouth’s report anticipates that summer trips will see an increase of 38% in costs compared to the previous year, with the average trip now exceeding $10,000. Furthermore, 92% of summer travelers expect to spend the same or more on travel compared to previous years.
In light of these concerns, demand for travel insurance is also on the rise, particularly for Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage as travelers seek to protect their investments.
Key Travel Insurance Tips for Summer Trips
- Buy Coverage Early: Purchasing your policy early ensures longer protection against unexpected cancellations.
- Choose the Most Affordable Policy that Fits Your Needs: Look for plans that offer the right coverage without overspending.
- Avoid Overinsuring Your Trip: Only insure the trip’s expenses you would lose with a cancellation.
This survey comprised responses from over 2,000 customers regarding their summer 2025 travel plans, conducted between March 31 and April 8, 2025. For further commentary, Ned Tadic is available for interviews.
