Shape Shop Donated to Health Right Clinic

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – More than a month after announcing its closure, Charleston’s Shape Shop has transformed into a new community service hub. The café, known for its healthy food options, was generously donated by owner Millie Snyder to the West Virginia Health Right clinic.

Angie Settle, CEO of West Virginia Health Right, emphasizes the significance of this donation, stating, ‘She’s always been a big facet of health and wellness and food, so it’s just a natural marriage between Manna Meal and Health Right to continue that.’

The space will be leased to Manna Meal, which will utilize it for its food pantry service. This collaboration honors Snyder’s legacy while also expanding the outreach capabilities of both organizations. Settle remarked, ‘We knew that they were looking for a home where they could prepare food.’

Collaborative Efforts for Community Support

Although Manna Meal will not serve food directly from the café, there is encouragement for collaborative efforts in the future. Settle noted, ‘We don’t have the funds right now to refurbish… but this is great to work with them.’

The ultimate goal, as Settle shared, is to address food insecurity within the community. ‘Food insecurity is one of those social determinants of health that impacts people’s overall health,’ she said, underlining the importance of this endeavor.

Manna Meal is set to commence operations from the former café in the new year, ensuring that healthy food options remain accessible to those in need.
