Santiago Canyon College to Launch New Telehealth Platform for Student Well-being

Santiago Canyon College is set to enhance student well-being with the upcoming launch of a new telehealth platform, TimelyCare, providing students with free 24/7 access to mental health services starting January 1.

This initiative aims to address the increasing demand for timely and accessible mental health care, ensuring students receive necessary support to thrive academically and personally.

TimelyCare allows students to log in and connect with licensed health professionals for on-demand consultations. The platform is already used by over 350 colleges across the country, allowing students to seek counseling, emotional support, and self-care resources.

With a rise in mental health challenges among students post-pandemic, the initiative is timely, given issues like social isolation, academic pressures, and financial concerns.

Christopher Sweeten, SCC’s Vice President of Student Services, emphasized the importance of supporting all students, including those enrolled in noncredit courses. “By leveraging funds and resources, we can extend support beyond traditional student health services,” he stated.

Once launched, students will use their single sign-on to log into TimelyCare for virtual appointments, which include immediate support options and resources for mental and emotional well-being.

TimelyCare is designed to be secure and HIPAA compliant, reporting daily to SCC’s Health Services department to facilitate follow-up support as required. Support offered through the platform also includes wellness solutions like yoga and stress relief techniques.

This initiative, which is fully funded by state mental health services funds and other operational resources, reflects SCC’s commitment to supporting the well-being of its approximately 18,000 students.
