Sabrina Carpenter’s Wellness Routine: A Glimpse into Her Fitness and Self-Care Practices
The breakthrough artist of the year’s wellness routine keeps her touring fit. In a recent Instagram post, Carpenter showed herself using an at-home infrared sauna. It’s safe to say that she uses this sauna often, given that it’s in her home, and it’s easy to see why. Studies have shown that infrared can ease DOMS, increase your heart rate and circulation to encourage muscle recovery after exercise.
Carpenter has frequently shared videos of herself working out in gyms and it appears that strength training is an important part of her routine. Recently a video circulated of Carpenter training with her sister at members-only gym chain Dogpound. In the clip, she can be seen performing glute kickbacks, deadlifts, squats and fire hydrants while wearing ankle weights.
A frequent inclusion in her social media photo dumps is shots of Carpenter enjoying a good old-fashioned walk. The benefits of getting your steps in are widely known, and Carpenter clearly sees the value in it.
Despite the fact that her biggest song is literally called ‘Espresso’, Carpenter herself is not all that into coffee. Speaking to The Strategist, she said she prefers yerba mate, which is a herbal tea that contains caffeine. That’s because ‘coffee can be a little hard to finish. It’s heavier, whereas this is a lot lighter’. She also said that yerba mate ‘tastes like sweeter mint tea and feels like I’m doing a two-for-one: mouthwash and drinking something I enjoy.’
A truly holistic wellness routine must incorporate habits that benefit physical and mental health. Carpenter must know this, as she mentioned the various things she does for her mental health in her interview with Marie Claire, including practicing gratitude. ‘I do try to list things that I’m grateful for first thing in the morning, just so I can start off my day hopefully in an attempt to make it more positive, before anything else kind of gets into my head. It actually has [benefitted] my days a lot, just by taking those couple seconds to do that, because I think otherwise it’s very easy to read something that is either good or bad news, but it just affects you in a weird way.’
It’s an area that almost all of us struggle with, but Carpenter has her screen time handled. Although, this is partially due to her busy schedule, rather than an intentional abstinence. ‘I can’t remember the last time I watched a TV show,’ she explained to Marie Claire. ‘By the end of the day, I feel like I’ve used up everything I have, so I just love sleep and getting to sleep as quickly as I can.’
In many of her workout videos, Carpenter can be seen exercising with her sister. Working out with company can boost your mood and make the whole process a lot easier. Carpenter thinks the same way. ‘I love working out with friends, because it makes me feel like I’m not working out,’ she told Marie Claire.
Sometimes, a warm bath at the end of a long day is exactly what you need to take a load off. It sounds simple, but making time for yourself to relax is a crucial part of a self-care routine, and it is for Carpenter. ‘I do love a bath,’ she said. ‘I think baths have been a life-saver to me, and again, music. Writing music has been my self-care. If I’m alone and I’m really stressed, I will be at my piano for hours on end.’
