Vimergy, a health-conscious brand, unveiled “Mouth of America”, a massive public sculpture of Lady Liberty swallowing hundreds of giant pills, to bring awareness to how many Americans use prescription drugs. This installation in Brooklyn Bridge Park aims to spark a national conversation about the systemic incentives in the U.S. healthcare system that profit from chronic illness and overmedication. The sculpture depicts the Statue of Liberty’s face with a stark visual metaphor for America’s health crisis, symbolizing a society allegedly drowning in overprescription and growing distrust in medical institutions. Phil Jacobson, Vimergy’s chief brand officer, stated that the piece is designed to provoke reflection and encourage Americans to pursue health through preventive wellness and self-advocacy. The campaign is complemented by a new website featuring a short film and educational resources, emphasizing Vimergy’s mission rooted in natural wellness and purity. According to the National Library of Medicine, prescription drug use in the U.S. reached an all-time high in 2020, with 6.3 billion prescriptions filled, representing about 19 prescriptions per American. The installation and campaign invite viewers to consider whether profit motives overshadow genuine health interests.
