PHILADELPHIA – A New Era for Student-Athlete Wellness
The University of Pennsylvania’s Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (Penn Athletics) has officially announced a partnership with Skinletics, a leader specializing in collegiate athletic wellness. This partnership is primarily centered around red-light therapy and aims to enhance both the performance and recovery of Quaker student-athletes.
Alanna Wren, the T. Gibbs Kane, Jr. W’69 Director of Athletics and Recreation at Penn, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, ‘Student-athlete well-being and recovery are important priorities for Penn Athletics in ensuring a first-class experience and competitive success. We are excited to partner with Skinletics to continue to support our student-athletes to be their best on and off the field.’
Revolutionizing Recovery
This partnership, facilitated by JMI Sports, will enhance Penn Athletics’ newly dedicated recovery zone. This area features innovative amenities such as the Skinletics recovery lounger, red-light LED yoga mats, and red and near-infrared body patches. The installation of the Skinletics recovery lounger in early October marks it as the first of its kind on a college campus in the United States.
Denise van Gulik, Founder of Skinletics, shared her pride in the collaboration, stating, ‘We are proud to partner with Penn Athletics, an institution known for its commitment to both academic and athletic excellence. Together, we’re creating spaces that prioritize the holistic health, wellness, and recovery of Quaker student-athletes, allowing them to train harder and recover smarter.’
