Pune: ParamYoga has partnered with the Antarang Holistic Wellness Centre to launch the Somatic Vedic Yoga Educator Program. This initiative integrates ancient yogic practices with modern somatic movement therapy.
Set to commence in January 2025, the program seeks to transform wellness education by providing certification for practitioners in a holistic approach to healing that encompasses both physical and mental health.
The program was developed by Ramesh Lakshmanan, a licensed Hanna Somatics practitioner and Director of Antarang Holistic Wellness Centre. Lakshmanan remarked, ‘This course addresses the increasing need for body-mind-centered healing practices, targeting issues like chronic pain, trauma, and sensory-motor disconnection. By transitioning from reactive to preventive measures, it empowers educators to instigate significant changes.’
Rashmi Ghatge, Director of ParamYoga, also underscored the initiative’s potential, sharing her personal journey: ‘By merging yoga with somatic techniques, I found relief from chronic pain that yoga alone could not provide. This sparked my desire to collaborate and help more practitioners gain these transformative skills.’
Participants will delve into a comprehensive curriculum that includes Neurophysiology, Muscular Anatomy, Vedic Mantras, Yoga Upanishad Philosophy, and Somatic Movement Therapy. The program will primarily be delivered online, supplemented by a six-day in-person residency each semester at Param Yogashala in Pune. This structure ensures that practitioners receive ample practical experience under the guidance of experienced instructors.
Open to yoga educators, wellness professionals, and anyone interested in alternative health approaches, the program aims to tackle the root causes of stress and disconnection while promoting resilience, self-awareness, and balanced wellbeing.
‘This initiative not only advances health education but also strives to make integrative wellness accessible and affordable,’ added Ghatge. By fostering a new generation of practitioners equipped with innovative healing techniques, the Somatic Vedic Yoga Educator Program represents a major advancement in holistic wellness education in India.
