Local Nonprofits Receive Over $117,000 for Health and Wellness Initiatives

Pallottine Foundation Awards 7,162 in Grants to Local Nonprofits

The Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon has announced that it has awarded a total of $117,162 in grants to 18 nonprofit organizations serving Barbour, Lewis, Randolph, Upshur, and Webster counties. This funding comes from the foundation’s Healthy Communities Initiative, which focuses on supporting various community needs related to health, wellness, and social services.

“Our team is thankful for these organizations and their continued commitment to serving those in need,” said Laura Boone, Executive Director of the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon. “They provide services and resources that are vital to the health and well-being of people living in our community and we look forward to partnering with them in the coming year.”

List of Awarded Organizations

The following organizations received grant funding:

  • Barbour County Senior Center – $5,656 for new computers.
  • Catholic Charities West Virginia – $7,000 for food items for their food pantry.
  • Elkins United Christian Community Center – $7,000 for their Lunch with Neighbors program.
  • Free Meals Appalachia Foundation – $4,000 for meal program supplies.
  • Highland Community Builders – $3,500 for garden education projects.
  • Lewis County Senior Citizens Center – $3,175 for audio-visual equipment.
  • Meals on Wheels of Randolph County – $4,000 for their senior nutrition program.
  • Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council – $6,000 for volunteer mileage reimbursement.
  • One Unique Recovery House – $7,723 for living facility improvements.
  • The Committee on Aging for Randolph County – $8,000 for nutrition program funding.
  • Tyrand Cooperative Ministries – $4,500 for holiday food packages.
  • Upshur-Buckhannon Health Department – $6,000 for outreach and health services.
  • Upshur Parish House – $8,250 for food support for Head Start students.
  • West Virginia Alliance for Creative Health Solutions – $9,000 for a health prevention program.
  • West Virginia Caring – $4,500 for volunteer training programs.
  • West Virginia University Foundation – $12,800 for nursing program support.
  • Wonder & Grow Mindful Nature Experience – $7,950 for student activity days.
  • Youth Health Service – $8,108 for therapy equipment.
