The Fitness Surge This New Year

EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE CO. — A New Year brings renewed enthusiasm for fitness, leading to an influx of new members at gyms, including Planet Fitness. As the gym fills with newcomers, excitement surrounds the pursuit of healthier lifestyles.

‘Getting excited to start something new, getting excited to have a healthier lifestyle whether it is physical or mental, Planet Fitness is going to be the place to do that,’ says Jessica Rogers, Club Manager. She highlights how the beginning of the year is pivotal for the fitness industry, acknowledging that taking the first step to join can often be the most challenging.

Rogers states, ‘The hardest part is getting through the door and taking that leap of faith saying that you need to get here and do this, and we’re here to make them feel comfortable.’ Planet Fitness aims to be a judgment-free zone, welcoming anyone aged 13 and up, regardless of their fitness experience.

‘We have a certified trainer on staff so that he can show anybody how to use anything or if they have any questions of how to further and better themselves,’ she shares.

Looking ahead to 2025, the gym is focusing on strength training with the addition of new equipment. ‘We have plate-loaded equipment that we just got at the end of 2024, so we are excited to see the members giving us good feedback and seeing how they like the equipment,’ she adds.

As members trickle in, they engage in various workouts, determined to kickstart their New Year on the right foot. Michelle Feil, a dedicated gym-goer, emphasizes the importance of perseverance in fitness goals, saying, ‘If I break it, I don’t give up or quit. I choose to try again, keep going, and power through. Some days I fail, but that’s not the end; I continue the next day.’

Planet Fitness offers additional amenities, such as massage chairs and workout classes, to assist its members on their fitness journeys. Experts recommend taking things slow and understanding that results may not come overnight, yet emphasizing the importance of keeping up with New Year resolutions.
