New Reports Highlight Best States for Health and Wellness in the U.S.

With around 75% of U.S. adults classified as either overweight or obese, the non-profit organization SmileHub has released new reports on the Best Charities for Health & Wellness and the Best States for Health & Wellness in 2024.

To highlight the states that are most supportive of residents improving their health and wellness, SmileHub compared each of the 50 states based on 23 key metrics. These metrics ranged from the cost of a medical visit to the quality of public hospital systems and public health funding per capita.

Key Statistics

  • Colorado boasts the lowest obesity rate, which is 1.7 times lower than the highest rate found in West Virginia.
  • Missouri has the lowest cost for a medical visit, at 2.2 times lower than the highest costs in Alaska.
  • Alaska leads in public health funding per capita, being 3.6 times higher than Michigan and Wisconsin.
