The Mahoning County Career and Technical Center (MCCTC) has announced a significant development in local healthcare as it has secured grant funding to establish a new Health and Wellness Center. This initiative comes in partnership with renowned entities Mercy Health and Cadence Care Network.

The center, spanning an impressive 13,000 square feet, will be located on the MCCTC campus. It is envisioned to expand healthcare access, enhance workforce development, and provide robust educational opportunities for students, staff, and the broader Mahoning Valley community.

Among its notable features, the center will be staffed by on-site healthcare professionals, allowing immediate access to primary and preventive care for both students and community members.

Moreover, the partnership with Cadence Care Network will ensure the provision of professional mental health counseling and behavioral health services, vital for addressing mental wellness needs among families and students.

MCCTC Superintendent, John Zehenbauer, expressed the significance of this funding in a recent press release, stating, ‘The development of this center is a major investment in the health and future of our students, staff, and community.’ He emphasized that ‘By partnering with Mercy Health and Cadence Care Network, we are ensuring that both physical and mental health services are accessible, removing barriers that often prevent individuals from seeking care.’

Importantly, the center will allow for walk-in visits, meaning patients will not need appointments and can be seen by a physician on the same day.

A groundbreaking ceremony for this promising project is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30.
