Olga Gončarova, General Manager at Lithuania Travel, stated that the country ‘not only competes successfully with Europe’s most famous resorts and rehabilitation centres but has also become one of the world’s leading innovators in the health segment.’
Lithuania’s wellness sector boasts a rich history, with Druskininkai, its oldest spa town, being a sought-after health resort since 1794. Surrounded by healing springs, it attracts numerous visitors aiming to enjoy its therapeutic offerings.
In addition, the town of Birštonas features a nineteenth-century mineral water treatment complex renowned for its high concentrations of calcium, magnesium, and sulphates that aid in relieving various ailments.
Further enhancing its wellness offerings, Lithuania has a strong tradition of sauna usage, alongside a revered relationship with herbal medicine, particularly bee-based products cherished in Lithuanian culture.
The recent recognition, along with the extension of the Michelin guide to Lithuania last summer, signifies that this is an opportune time to explore the country.
