Is Love.Life the Future of Wellness Clubs?

Introducing Love.Life

The co-founder of Whole Foods, John Mackey, has unveiled a new health and wellness club named Love.Life, which comes with a staggering annual membership fee of $50,000. Mackey believes that only the health-conscious individuals of Los Angeles would be interested in such an exclusive offering.

Membership Options

Love.Life combines a doctor’s office, gym, and wellness center, promoting its motto: ‘Nourish, Heal, Thrive.’ The most affordable memberships start at $750 per month or $9,000 annually, while the premium ‘Concierge’ level membership costs $50,000.

For those looking for a taste of the experience, a day pass is available for $100. Partial memberships, including a $300 fitness and recovery option and a $500 medical-only membership, are also offered.

What Do Members Get?

For $9,000 a year, members receive five visits with a primary care doctor, health coaching, medical testing, and access to fitness and recovery sessions. The Concierge level provides unlimited doctor appointments and more comprehensive medical tests.

Upon joining, visitors undergo a series of tests to ensure specialists can tailor a personalized health experience. This includes blood tests for over 120 biomarkers and assessments of musculoskeletal health, body composition, and bone mineral density.

Innovative Health Approach

Mackey emphasizes that the club aims to help individuals become the healthiest versions of themselves—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. He states, ‘When do most people go to a doctor? When they get sick. Our idea is: We want you to start seeing a doctor [now] so that you don’t ever have to see a doctor for the chronic diseases that kill.’

While the club does not accept insurance, members may be reimbursed for certain tests. Mackey views this venture as a ‘continuation of my own higher purpose in life,’ having spent four decades developing this concept.

Future Aspirations

After selling Whole Foods to Amazon for $13.7 billion in 2017, Mackey has been focused on launching Love.Life, which he envisions as a state-of-the-art gym, high-end spa, and holistic health center. He hopes to expand the concept to other cities and eventually internationally.
