Inner Haven Wellness Expands Insurance Coverage in Wisconsin
Inner Haven Wellness is taking a significant step to enhance accessibility to eating disorder treatment. The organization is expanding its in-network insurance partnerships to ensure that high-quality, evidence-based care becomes more widely available across Wisconsin.
This expansion now includes collaborations with several insurance providers such as MultiPlan (now Claritev), Advocate Aurora Health, Security Health, and Mercy Care. Additionally, there is an expansion of coverage options with Optum/United Healthcare, which now includes both adolescent and adult treatment available in-person and virtually.
Margherita Mascolo, MD, CEDS-S, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer of Inner Haven Wellness, emphasized the importance of this initiative. She stated, ‘Expanding our insurance partnerships is a pivotal step toward addressing the significant gap in treatment accessibility for eating disorders. Recent data indicates a growing demand for eating disorder treatment, with insurance claims related to such treatment rising by 65 percent from 2018 to 2022. However, it’s concerning that only a fraction of the estimated 30 million Americans suffering from eating disorders receive the treatment they need, often due to high costs and limited insurance coverage.
Inner Haven Wellness is focused on removing these financial barriers and already accepts most major insurance providers, including Carelon, Cigna (Evernorth), and others.
