SSM Health is donating $10,000 to The Arc Fond du Lac to support a 12-month health and wellness program for its direct support professionals. These professionals assist individuals with disabilities in participating in their communities, including employment.
Why is This Important?
According to Dawn Scannell, The Arc Fond du Lac Executive Director, direct support professionals face emotional challenges due to the nature of their work. They deal with the harsh realities and social stigmas associated with disabilities, which can impact their psychological well-being.
What Will the Wellness Program Include?
The wellness program will address burnout, compassion fatigue, personal finances, stress, time management, resilience, mental health, work-life balance, and physical health. It will offer training classes, monthly wellness challenges, and quarterly wellness meetings to provide resources and support.
About The Arc Fond du Lac
The Arc Fond du Lac is a human service organization that empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy, education, training, and support. They serve over 250 individuals and families annually across Fond du Lac, Dodge, and Winnebago counties.
SSM Health’s Commitment
In 2023, SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac’s community benefit ministry totaled over $630,000. This investment ensures access to healthcare for uninsured or underinsured patients, trains future health professionals, and funds programs addressing pressing health needs.
