House Advances Eight Health Bills to Enhance Patient Care

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) expressed support after the House passed eight bills from the Health Subcommittee’s jurisdiction.

‘These bipartisan bills will help patients access the care and support they need. I commend the bill sponsors for their leadership and our Committee Members for working to prepare them for consideration by the full House.’

Key Legislation Passed

  • S. Amdt. to H.R. 7213, the AUTISM Cares Act of 2024, had a decisive approval, passing by a vote of 374 – 15. Having also gained unanimous Senate approval, this bill now awaits the President’s signature.
  • H.R. 7224, which aims to amend the Public Health Service Act to reauthorize the Stop, Observe, Ask, and Respond to Health and Wellness Training Program, saw unanimous passage in the House.
  • S. 223, a measure to rectify a technical error in the Controlled Substances Act definitions, was passed unanimously in the House and previously in the Senate. This bill now also heads to the President.
  • H.R. 4534, the Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act of 2024, achieved unanimous support in the House.
  • H.R. 7188, the Shandra Eisenga Human Cell and Tissue Product Safety Act, also passed unanimously.
  • H.R. 6020, known as the Honor Our Living Donors Act, saw unanimous approval.
  • H.R. 670, the Think Differently Database Act, was passed unanimously.
  • S. 1351, the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act, received bipartisan support with a vote of 373 – 33 and is also on its way to the President after Senate passage.

These legislative efforts reflect a commitment to improving healthcare access and services across the United States, emphasizing the role of cooperation in addressing health challenges.
