Harwich Hosts Annual Health and Environmental Fair

Join the Community for a Day of Health and Wellness

HARWICH – The second annual Health and Environmental Fair is set for Saturday at the 204 Cultural Arts Municipal Building. This engaging event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to the public.

The fair promises an informative day filled with lectures from health and environmental experts, health screenings, and opportunities to engage with vendors and artists. Families can also enjoy live music, food trucks, and fun activities for children, including a special appearance by the Easter Bunny.

Health Department Director Carrie Schoener noted, ‘The health department has teamed up with the conservation department and Cultural Affairs Director Kara Mewhinney to bring this free, family-friendly event which offers a full day of health, wellness, and environmental education.’

What to Expect

Attendees can look forward to a variety of scheduled activities:

  • A free yoga class with instructor Samantha Brintnall from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The class caters to all experience levels and focuses on stretching and stability.
  • At noon, there will be a substance use presentation by Bri Smith from Outer Cape Health Services, followed by a presentation on tick-borne diseases by Lea Hamner, a contract epidemiologist with Barnstable County.
  • The Harwich Climate Action Network will present on how the community can lead in climate initiatives.

Children will find crafts, swag bags, and lawn games throughout the event. Local artists will showcase their creations, and award-winning singer-songwriter Shannon Davis will be performing. Her album, ‘Tell Me A Story,’ released in 2023, features a unique folk sound reflective of Cape Cod’s musical heritage.

With approximately 50 vendors and exhibitors providing valuable health advice and services, the fair is a pivotal event for community involvement.
