Inspiring Recovery: A Mother’s Journey Through COVID-19
In a remarkable story of resilience, Jan Ehtash, a 60-year-old mother from the UK, recently shared her experience of battling a life-threatening bout of COVID-19 that left her in a medically induced coma. Ehtash was hospitalized in December 2020 due to severe respiratory issues and ended up on a ventilator on Christmas Eve. As she faced the possibility of saying goodbye to her family, she conveyed her fears over the phone, uncertain if she would survive the ordeal.
After five weeks in a coma, Ehtash woke up to a new lease on life, expressing her gratitude for the NHS staff who played a crucial role in her recovery. ‘I couldn’t move or speak, but they found ways to make me feel less alone,’ she recalled. ‘One nurse held my hand when I needed it the most — these people are amazing.’ Now, fully recovered, she celebrates another Christmas at home with her loved ones.
Jan’s story is a testament to the impactful work of healthcare professionals during difficult times and serves as a reminder of the human spirit’s resilience in the face of adversity.
