Burlington is a city on the map for world-class healthcare, excellent shopping, and award-winning eateries.
Over the past decade, Burlington has transformed into an exciting and dynamic destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Visitors can shop at the regionally iconic Burlington Mall, explore the 3rd Avenue shops and eateries, or discover the many independent restaurants and retail options in the area. Conveniently located along Route 95, Burlington boasts numerous attractions that are easily accessible.
Dig a little deeper, and you’ll find that Burlington is also a great place for self-care, where residents and visitors can focus on their health and wellness. From public fitness offerings to luxurious spa options, this town serves as a hub for promoting well-being.
‘Here in Burlington, health and wellness is one of our goals,’ says Kelly Lehman, assistant director of parks and recreation.
To support this mission, Burlington has established an outdoor fitness court featuring seven exercise stations, including rings and workout bars. Another park offers outdoor rowing and elliptical machines for further fitness opportunities.
Nature lovers can explore Mary Cummings Park, a serene 216-acre oasis amidst the busyness of town. The park encompasses a boardwalk that weaves over wetlands, trails through lush forests, and a wheelchair-accessible loop designed to attract butterflies and other pollinators. With picnic benches scattered throughout, it’s an ideal spot to unwind and appreciate nature.
Additionally, Burlington is home to Life Time, a premier fitness center and health club that offers more than just a traditional workout. This facility hosts over 200 group classes each month, a wide array of cardio machines, and weight training options. Luxury amenities, such as saunas, swimming pools, nutritious dining options, and spa treatments, create an experience that goes beyond mere exercise. While there is a waitlist for memberships, day passes are also available.
‘It feels like you’re walking into a five-star fitness resort,’ shares Ray Chapman, the facility’s manager. ‘We are open from 4 a.m. to midnight, and there’s always people here,’ he adds.
Burlington is well-known for its top-notch medical facilities, especially the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. Expanding its commitment to wellness beyond hospital walls, Beth Israel Lahey Health has launched the Lifestyle Health: Weight Loss & Wellness program at The Village, a facility within the Burlington Mall complex. This center assists clients in achieving their wellness goals with trained medical staff who provide insights into nutrition, weight-loss options, and mental health education, emphasizing a supportive environment.
‘Weight and wellness are holistic,’ remarks Amanda Powell, chair of the Division of Lifestyle Health at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. ‘We want patients to feel good about themselves when they walk into the clinic.’
When clients finish their appointment, they are close to additional wellness-related ventures. They can enjoy a wholesome salad at Sweetgreen, benefit from assisted stretching at StretchLab, or indulge in some pampering at the Blo Blow Dry Bar.
Other spa and wellness treatment options are abundant throughout Burlington. At Anam Cara Wellness Center, guests can experience energy healing or relax with a therapeutic massage. For a beauty boost, Belle Vista Nail Studio offers nail services, and the town’s many medspas, like VIO Med Spa or Medspa810, provide rejuvenating skin treatments.
Of course, wellness can also take a culinary form, with Burlington boasting numerous restaurants that nourish both the body and spirit. Café Escadrille has been a local favorite for over 50 years, serving classic and contemporary American cuisine. Karma Asian Fusion adds a twist with its unique blend of Japanese and Chinese flavors, enriched by French techniques. Mooo offers internationally sourced steak, while Common Craft features a scratch kitchen, locally crafted beers, and engaging activities for all ages, making it a perfect spot for family fun.
What could be better for your well-being than that?
