Emily English: An Inspiring Journey in Nutrition
In the four years since she filmed herself making a salad from her locked-down kitchen, Emily English has amassed more than a million followers, written a bestselling cookbook, and launched her own probiotic brand. Her meteoric rise comes after a lifetime of resilience and passion for nutrition that began during her childhood in a Bedford council estate.
Creating Delicious and Nutritious Meals
As she serves a plate of her prepable tuna protein mix, English quips, ‘Be careful, I don’t want you to lose a tooth on those pomegranate seeds.’ Her recipes, which are high in protein and fiber, are designed with every meal enthusiast in mind.
Known as Em the Nutritionist to her 1.7 million Instagram followers, her tagline, ‘Food you want to eat, designed by a nutritionist,’ resonates deeply. ‘When I look back – oh my goodness, I was young. But it was great training,’ she notes, recalling her early days cooking meals for her siblings.
The Road to Success
Her first cookbook, So Good, topped the Sunday Times bestseller list last spring. With a follow-up, Live To Eat, scheduled for release in May, the excitement around her culinary journey continues to grow.
Speaking about her early life, Emily shares, ‘I grew up on a council estate. People think I’m silver-spoon fed, but I’m from a massive family with not a lot of money.’ These experiences formed her resilient approach to nutrition and cooking.
Mental Health and Community Impact
English’s recent work focuses on community outreach, including plans to teach food tech classes in local schools. ‘There are so many people who aren’t having a great time with food or their health and that’s what I want to help them with,’ she emphasizes.
A Bright Future Ahead
With plans to start a family and a dream renovation underway in London, English’s future is bright. ‘I’m going to have a disco back in Bedford for my 30th birthday. Granny’s coming out of retirement to do the food!’ she says with a smile.
Emily English’s story is a testament to transforming personal challenges into a mission of empowerment for others through nutrition.
