Vibrant Gathering of LGBTQ+ Leaders in Las Vegas

As the nation looks ahead to a new presidential term, thousands of leaders and advocates from the LGBTQ+ and progressive movements will assemble in Las Vegas for the 2025 Creating Change Conference. Set for January 22-26 at the Rio Hotel and Resorts, this year’s event promises to be the largest yet, with expectations of close to 4,000 attendees.

The conference will be a hub for discussion and fellowship, themed “Rooted in Resistance, Power and Love”, marking the importance of collaboration and action in confronting contemporary challenges. Organizers encourage participants to explore how resistance shapes LGBTQ+ activism and influences future endeavors.

Schedule Highlights and Engagement Opportunities

The conference will feature a variety of programs, including workshops, day-long institutes, and special events designed for networking and resource sharing. All activities will occur within the convention space of the host hotel, ensuring a focused and immersive experience.

Notable plenary sessions include:

  • Black Leadership Rising: A discussion showcasing influential Black LGBTQ leaders and how they are shaping advocacy and policy.
  • Democracy, Fascism, and the Road Ahead: A critical look at the ongoing fight against fascism and strategies for an inclusive political future.
  • State of the Movement: An intimate conversation reflecting on progress and challenges within LGBTQ+ movements with Kierra Johnson and Tre’vell Anderson.
  • Safety and Security: An exploration of how to foster safety within intersecting movements led by trans leaders.

Support Services and Community Care Initiatives

This year, the conference introduces a Health and Wellness Space to support attendees with many free services, including mental health support, STI testing, and counseling. Additionally, legal resources will be provided through partnerships with Oasis Legal Services and the National Center for Lesbian Rights, catering to various community needs.

Furthermore, special events such as the Agents of Change Ball will honor Ballroom culture and contribute to local LGBTQ-serving organizations.
