Complete Wellness Chiropractic has opened its doors in Winnebago, led by chiropractor Sidney Coxworth, whose journey into this profession was inspired by her childhood injury. As a young girl, Coxworth experienced an accident that resulted in multiple visits to a chiropractor, ultimately guiding her towards a career in holistic health.
Coxworth, a Blue Earth Area graduate, pursued her higher education at St. Catherine University, where she developed an interest in preventative care. She states, ‘I became very interested in preventative care. Although preventative care typically costs more up front, it is cheaper in the long run.’ This philosophy helped shape her approach in the new practice, which aims to address the root causes of musculoskeletal problems.
After completing her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Northwestern Health Sciences University, Coxworth opened her practice at a location once discussed with her colleague, Heidi Stevermer, a certified nurse practitioner. ‘I get to be closer to my family. I am the oldest of three sisters,’ she shares, highlighting the personal aspect of her return to Winnebago.
The practice’s mission focuses on treating issues like headaches, back pain, and sciatica, with Coxworth stating, ‘Chiropractors treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions or disorders.’ She emphasizes the interconnectedness of the body’s systems, aiming to educate her patients about how stress can lead to physical issues.
Complete Wellness Chiropractic is operational Monday through Saturday, and Coxworth is excited to introduce new tools, including a laser machine, to aid in patient recovery. She expresses her joy in being able to help people find relief from pain, stating, ‘When I am able to help a patient that thought they had to live with pain the rest of their life and give them relief – that is my favorite part of my job.’
