Community Living Burlington Celebrates 70 Years with the Unveiling of New Wellness Centre

In a significant milestone for the community, Community Living Burlington (CLB) unveiled a new Wellness Centre, made possible by a generous $150,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This project aims to enhance health and wellness services for individuals with developmental disabilities, further supporting CLB’s mission of social inclusion.
The grand opening ceremony took place on Thursday, featuring local MPP Natalie Pierre, who expressed her excitement about the funding to build the centre. She emphasized, ‘Community Living Burlington is one of the oldest non-profit organizations in Burlington and I am pleased they have received this funding through the province’s Ontario Trillium Foundation’s capital stream to build their new wellness centre.’ This dedication aligns perfectly with CLB’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
The newly transformed 2,000 square foot space includes a spacious fitness area and private treatment rooms designed to provide confidential consultations and therapy services. This facility will greatly enhance the existing supports and expand program opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Judy Pryde, Executive Director of Community Living Burlington, stated, ‘We are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for investing in our community. The Wellness Centre will have a profound impact on the lives of the people we support, giving them a dedicated space to focus on their physical and mental well-being while fostering greater social connections.’
With a legacy of 70 years of advocacy, CLB remains a beacon of support and empowerment for individuals with developmental disabilities. To celebrate this significant anniversary, they will host a 70th Anniversary Open House on May 31, 2025, at their Mainway location in Burlington.
Through various programs, including employment services and group living support, CLB has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities since its inception in 1955. As a leading non-profit organization in the area, CLB is committed to enhancing community inclusivity and opportunities for all.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s funding continues to play a crucial role in supporting such important initiatives. ‘Whether it’s helping people learn new things, connect with their community, or simply have fun, organizations like Community Living Burlington deliver experiences that make a difference,’ added Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming.
