INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A vibrant atmosphere marked the Black Family Wellness Expo, an initiative aimed at promoting health within the African American community.

Hosted by Community Link, the expo was introduced by Carolene Mays, who spotlighted Links Incorporated as they prepare for the event. Established in 1946, Links Incorporated is an international non-profit organization striving to enrich the lives of African Americans through various initiatives.

Deborah Oates and Stacey Myers, representatives from the Indianapolis chapter of Links Incorporated, shared that the expo’s primary goal is to address health disparities prevalent in Black communities.

At the expo, attendees will have access to essential health services, including blood pressure screenings, breast screenings, vaccinations, and dental care, provided by IU Health. The event also features food trucks and enjoyable activities, making it a fun outing while focusing on health.
