Community Health Takes Center Stage at Black Family Wellness Expo in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.

On a vibrant day at KIPP V.O.I.C.E. Academy in Jacksonville, the Black Family Wellness Expo served as a hub for community engagement focused on health and financial education. Organized by the Bold City and Jacksonville chapters of Links Incorporated, the expo provided a comprehensive range of activities aimed at enhancing the well-being of families in the area.

The expo featured financial literacy classes, health screenings, and food giveaways, creating an inclusive environment for attendees of all ages. According to Candace Thompson, president of the Jacksonville chapter, ‘Our mission is to educate the Black population on the key health topics that impact the community…we feel like if we can help bring the education and the information to the community, they’ll be most likely to take action for themselves to improve their health and wellness.’

The event exemplified a collective effort to raise awareness about important health issues while fostering a sense of community camaraderie. Through fun and interactive workshops, attendees were encouraged to prioritize their health and make informed decisions regarding their financial futures.

This initiative not only provided valuable resources but also reinforced the importance of community involvement in health education. For more information on the Bold City Links and their activities, click here.
