HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Coastal Carolina University (CCU) has launched a new Community, Outreach, Research, and Education (CORE) center for residents in Horry and Georgetown counties.
The center was established by the Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance.
The creation of the center aims to offer valuable health assessments, fitness testing, and wellness consultations designed to guide clients toward ‘optimal health and wellness.’
Popular health metric services include body composition analysis, muscular fitness evaluations, and cardiovascular disease risk assessments.
Advanced technology will be utilized by a CORE Center lab coordinator to personalize health and exercise plans for individual clients.
“As we all start to think about the new year and our personal health and wellness goals, the CORE Center is a great place to start, as it offers multiple fitness and performance assessments,” provided Colleen McGlone, Ph.D., dean of the Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance.
The CORE Center is committed to fostering generational wellness across the region through accessible resources, education, and high-impact community partnerships. Expertise from CCU programs such as nursing, health sciences, exercise and sports science, recreation, sports management, and public health will contribute to the advancement of student and faculty research at the CORE Center.
By integrating academic inquiry with community outreach, the CORE Center will advance knowledge in health and human performance by designing interventions that are practical, culturally relevant, and impactful to the community,” noted Stacey Beam, CORE Center program coordinator.
