Edmondson Shines as Big South Conference Recognizes Achievements
Asheville, NC – UNC Asheville’s redshirt junior Clay Edmondson has been awarded the title of Big South Conference Starting Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday, April 21. This acknowledgment comes on the heels of a remarkable performance against conference leader High Point over the weekend.
In the three-game series, Asheville secured two victories against High Point from April 17-19, showcasing their competitive spirit. Edmondson played a crucial role in the success, improving his personal record to 5-1 after delivering an impressive seven-inning performance.
During his start, Edmondson allowed only five hits and one unearned run, accompanied by eight strikeouts and one walk, leading to a 4-2 win on the day of his game. This marked Edmondson’s seventh quality start of the season, solidifying his position as a key player for the Bulldogs.
This marks the third time in Edmondson’s career that he has earned the Starting Pitcher of the Week honor. Originally from Greensboro, NC, he is currently majoring in Health and Wellness Promotion.
Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will return to Greenwood Field on Wednesday, April 23, to host Western Carolina for a concluding matchup in their season series. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in Asheville.
