Monthly Wellness Meetups Launch in Little Rock
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — As the summer season approaches, many individuals are seeking ways to adopt healthier lifestyles. To aid in this journey, Baptist Health has launched a new initiative known as the Monthly Wellness Meetup.
The meetups are designed to provide participants with practical tools and strategies for living healthier lives. According to Samantha Statter, a dietitian and community educator at Baptist Health, ‘It’s really just all about helping people find practical tools that they can use in their everyday life to just try to make some of those healthier habits.’
Scheduled for the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m., the meetups will take place at Baptist Health’s West Little Rock offices. Each session will cover a range of topics, including physical activity, mental health, stress management, and healthy eating.
Navigating Health Information
Statter shared that, ‘There is so much information out there about what makes us healthy or unhealthy, what makes a food healthy or unhealthy? And it can be really overwhelming.’ The program aims to help participants navigate the often confusing landscape of wellness trends, focusing on fact versus fiction.
Importantly, the initiative encourages small, manageable lifestyle changes rather than an all-or-nothing approach. Statter states, ‘This class is open to any adult who would like to register.’ Interested individuals can sign up through the Baptist Health Community Outreach Facebook page.
Fighting Fad Diets with Facts
Addressing the proliferation of fad diets on social media, Statter emphasized the need for evidence-based information. ‘There is so much crazy information out there, online and on social media,’ she said. The meetups will strive to equip participants with the factual knowledge needed to make informed health decisions.
A Supportive Environment
The ultimate goal of the Monthly Wellness Meetups is to foster a supportive community environment. ‘We just want to create a space where people can come where they can feel welcome and supported,’ stated Statter.
