Bahrain Marks World Health Day 2025

Manama, Apr. 6 (BNA): The Ministry of Health held a ceremony to mark World Health Day 2025 under the theme ‘Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures.’

Present at the ceremony were Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, along with Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health. The event also saw the presence of senior health officials, representatives from relevant institutions, and various medical professionals.

In her speech, the Minister of Health highlighted that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, prioritises public health as a foundation for sustainable development and community well-being.

She stated that maternal and child health is a central pillar of Bahrain’s national health strategy, which aims to provide integrated care from early stages of life, ensuring long-term wellness for future generations.

The Minister detailed the ongoing efforts spearheaded by the Supreme Council of Health to provide preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services, while also advancing public health awareness and health system development to guarantee high-quality care for all citizens.

She emphasized that investments in maternal and child health contribute to building a robust society.

Furthermore, the Minister outlined Bahrain’s comprehensive approach involving premarital screenings, prenatal and postnatal care, routine child check-ups, compliance with vaccination schedules, and the encouragement of breastfeeding alongside proper nutrition.

Additionally, Bahrain’s commitment to innovation in healthcare was underscored through investments in digital solutions and modern technologies that enhance service quality and sustainability. She remarked that the theme reflected Bahrain’s belief that a healthy beginning lays the groundwork for a prosperous future.

The ceremony featured an awareness video showcasing critical maternal and child health services and updates on the national immunization program, especially vaccines for pregnant women and young children. Awareness activities promoting early health interventions and healthy community lifestyles were also part of the program.
