Apple is gearing up for a significant transformation of its Health app with the upcoming release of iOS 19.4, slated for launch in spring or summer 2026. This ambitious update, known as Project Mulberry, aims to incorporate an AI-powered health coaching feature that provides personalized health recommendations based on user data.
The new coaching feature will utilize data from various Apple devices like the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, simulating aspects of a real healthcare provider by offering tailored health advice. Users can expect recommendations on fitness tips and lifestyle changes, based on tracked metrics such as heart rate and activity levels.
Moreover, the app will contain instructional videos made by healthcare professionals, aiding users in understanding specific health conditions and managing them effectively. For example, if unusual heart-rate patterns arise, the app can provide relevant educational content regarding heart disease risks.
A noteworthy addition to the app is the food tracking feature, allowing users to log meals and receive dietary advice. This positions Apple’s Health app as a strong competitor to well-known apps like MyFitnessPal, with the AI coach offering insights into dietary habits and healthier food recommendations tailored to individual goals.
The revamped app is anticipated to integrate seamlessly with Apple’s existing Fitness+ service, potentially enabling users to assess their workouts through their iPhone’s camera, delivering real-time feedback on exercise techniques.
Apple is collaborating with both internal physicians and external specialists in various fields, including cardiology, nutrition, and mental health, to develop thorough content for the app. The company is also in search of a recognized medical figure to host the health coaching service, which might be branded as Health+.
iOS 19.4 is expected to be unveiled at this year’s WWDC in June 2025, with a public launch shortly after. This focus on health technology reflects Apple’s ongoing commitment to incorporating health and wellness into its ecosystem.
