Amway is set to launch its Begin 30 program in January 2025, targeting holistic wellness through better gut health and simple lifestyle adjustments. The program incorporates a ‘gut-first’ approach, which aligns with current scientific findings that highlight the far-reaching benefits of maintaining a healthy gut microbiome.
Recent studies indicate that gut health may influence various bodily functions beyond digestion, such as immune response, weight management, and sleep quality. According to Amway’s 2024 Habits and Healthspan Survey, conducted with 1,000 participants aged 18 to 70, 62% reported facing occasional gut issues.
Recognizing the importance of nutrition, hydration, exercise, and mindfulness in overall wellness, Amway’s program emphasizes these four pillars. Dr. Nikky Contractor, a leader in Amway’s Global R&D team, stresses the significance of focusing on gut-friendly foods that account for 60% of daily caloric intake. She mentioned, ‘Everything you eat interacts with your gut microbiome, which can impact the function of your gut.’
With hydration also playing a vital role in gut health, Amway advises individuals to drink at least half their body weight in ounces of water and consume hydrating food such as fruits and vegetables. Regular physical activity is another crucial component, with recommendations suggesting a minimum of 75 minutes of exercise each week.
The mindfulness aspect aims to reduce stress, which can positively affect overall health. Dr. Contractor explained, ‘If you can take the time to be mindful to help lower your stress levels, that will, in turn, positively impact your overall health.’
Participants in the Begin 30 program will make small incremental changes to their lifestyle in exchange for noticeable improvements in their wellbeing, with 96% of individuals in a pilot test expressing a desire to continue with the program after four weeks. Additionally, the Amway™ Wellbeing+ app will facilitate tracking habits, providing tips, recipes, and a daily log to reinforce participants’ commitments.
Kelli Templeton, Chief Marketing Officer for Amway North America, remarked, ‘We continue to look for ways to take advantage of emerging science… the gut is a key area that may considerably influence wellbeing.’
