Amazon is pushing the boundaries of online shopping with the introduction of a novel artificial intelligence (AI) tool dubbed ‘Interests’. This innovative tool is designed to help consumers discover new products that resonate with their preferences.

The ‘Interests’ feature enables users to generate personalized shopping prompts using everyday language. For example, a user might input their interest in ‘brewing tools and gadgets for coffee lovers’, prompting the AI to scour Amazon’s extensive catalog and provide recommendations.

This feature is currently being trialed by a limited audience within the U.S. via the Amazon app and mobile website, with plans for a wider rollout. According to Amazon, ‘Interests’ leverages large language models (LLMs) to convert everyday phrases into structured queries that traditional search engines can interpret.

In addition to the shopping tool, reports from CNBC suggest that Amazon is also experimenting with a health-focused chatbot known as “Health AI”. This chatbot aims to assist users with product recommendations and wellness inquiries by offering answers related to health and common care options.

While Amazon has not responded to inquiries regarding the health chatbot’s testing phase, the company’s latest developments in AI technology highlight its commitment to enhancing the customer shopping experience and addressing user health-related needs.

As of recent trading, Amazon shares are stable, reflecting a modest increase of around 14% over the past year.
