Team Canada 2025 ITF Qualies Montreal David Kirouac
Canada is set to make its mark at the upcoming ITF World Junior Tennis team event Finals, sending four impressive teams this year. The U14 girls, U14 boys, U16 Billie Jean King Cup Juniors, and U16 Davis Cup Juniors all successfully advanced during the qualification rounds at IGA Stadium in Montreal this week.

As the final day of competition unfolded, the Canadian squads faced a variety of challenges, needing specific outcomes alongside help from other teams. They rose to the occasion, winning all their respective ties on Friday with commanding scores of 3-0, successfully finishing without dropping a single set.

The day began with an electrifying performance from the Canadian teams. They lost a combined five games across their opening singles matches, including six bagel sets—a remarkable feat that underscored their dominance.

The U16 girls’ team clinched its place first, with Elicia Lin securing a 6-0, 6-3 victory in the opening match against Mexico. Canada’s Billie Jean King Cup Juniors only needed one win from their final tie after a strong start earlier in the tournament, including a stunning upset over the USA. Charlize Celebrini completed their mission with a second singles win of 7-5, 6-1. Lin and Laurence Demers locked in a doubles victory of 6-2, 6-3, sealing a perfect week for the team.

Meanwhile, both boys’ teams displayed remarkable resilience. Caden Colburne (U16) and Deniz Karabulut (U14) each delivered double bagels in their matches, reflecting their preparation and skill. Joshua Adamson then clinched the tie for the U16 boys with a solid 6-1, 6-4 win against Guatemala.

Following suit, Alden Yu wrapped up the U14 boys’ successful day as he also won his match 6-3, 6-2 against the Dominican Republic. Both teams demonstrated exceptional teamwork, culminating in a pair of doubles wins that only added to their commendable performances.

All Canadian teams showcased not only proficiency on the court but also the spirit and determination that reflects the country’s passion for success in tennis. As they prepare for the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals set for August 4-9, they leave this qualifying round with exceptional pride and an unyielding spirit to represent Canada on a grander stage.
