
Troy University invites the public to its annual TROY Health and Wellness Fair, alongside other Heritage Week events taking place at its Dothan Campus from April 22.
During the Health and Wellness Fair, attendees will have the chance to engage with local medical professionals who will provide valuable health screenings. Services include vision assessments, blood pressure checks, glucose testing, hearing screenings, and much more.
Numerous vendors will be present, including representatives from Southeast Health, Houston County Chiropractic, and the Alabama Department of Public Health, to share wellness resources with participants. This fair is accessible to TROY students and the general public and will be held on Tuesday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Harrison Room of Malone Hall.
Sandra Ledford Henry, the Associate Dean of Student Services at the Dothan Campus, stated, ‘We understand the importance of maintaining physical and mental health, and we look forward to providing our community with services that assist them towards a healthy lifestyle.’
Furthermore, the Woodham Memorial Lecture is scheduled for Thursday, April 24 at noon, featuring Dr. W. Charles Lewis, who will discuss ‘Prominent Black History Makers: Dothan, Alabama.’ Dr. Lewis, the founder and senior pastor at Dothan Community Church, has significant academic credentials, including degrees from Tuskegee University and Dallas Theological Seminary.
Wrapping up the week’s events, the annual Honors Convocation will be recognized on Friday night, which highlights student achievements.

- Tuesday, April 22 — Health and Wellness Fair, Harrison Room, 9 a.m.-noon
- Wednesday, April 23 — Picnic on the Quad, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
- Thursday, April 24 — Woodham Memorial Lecture, Harrison Room, noon-1 p.m.
- Friday, April 25 — Honors Convocation at 5:30 p.m. in the Harrison Room

In Mount Vernon, Illinois, Deaconess Illinois Crossroads will host a Free Community Health Fair on Tuesday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Rolland Lewis Building. This event aims to enhance community health by enabling local residents to access a variety of health services.
With a wide range of free health screenings available, including glucose, lipid, and blood pressure checks, attendees will also find educational resources to manage chronic conditions.
Melissa Sons, Regional Director of Case Management, noted, ‘This year’s fair is bigger than ever, and that means even more resources for our community. We want everyone who walks through the doors to leave feeling empowered and cared for.’
This family-friendly event requires no pre-registration, encouraging community members to attend with family and friends for an opportunity to gain important health insights.
