A tragic incident unfolded in Kanchanaburi province, where a park ranger who went missing inside Sao Hin Cave has been confirmed deceased. The news was announced by Lam Khlong Ngu National Park officials.
Divers discovered the body of Paisan Waenpetch, a freelance ranger employed by the park, during their efforts to locate him after he vanished while guiding tourists on an eco-trekking tour.
According to Akkhanit Klangpraphan, the head of Lam Khlong Ngu National Park, Paisan was last seen in the water inside the cave. The search operation was promptly initiated following his disappearance, with a systematic focus due to the challenging nature of the cave’s terrain.
The Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation ordered an urgent search to locate the missing ranger, considering the various risks posed by the cave’s complexity.
To aid in the search and rescue operations, the park collaborated with a specialized diving team from the Pitak Karn Foundation, known for handling underwater recoveries.
Sao Hin Cave, a prominent feature of Lam Khlong Ngu National Park, is notable for its stunning limestone formations, including towering stalactites and natural pillars often referred to as ‘Stone Pillars.’ With depths exceeding 500 meters, the cave houses an underground stream that swells during the rainy season, creating hazardous conditions.
Authorities are now focused on retrieving Paisan’s body from the cave, bringing an end to a distressing search effort.
