San Benito County Celebrates Mental Health Awareness at Family Wellbeing Festival

First Countywide Family Wellbeing Festival Excels in Promoting Mental Health

The San Benito County Office of Education organized the inaugural Family Wellbeing Festival, held on March 20 at Veterans Memorial Hall. The event saw over 400 attendees come together to focus on mental health, wellness, and community support.

With the theme ‘Empowering Families: Thrive Within Your Community,’ this one-of-a-kind festival brought local and state agencies, school districts, and expert speakers to provide vital resources for families and children in San Benito County.

The mission of the festival was to enhance awareness around mental health and well-being. Funding came from the CalHope Grant alongside Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiatives.

In collaboration with San Benito County Behavioral Health, more than 20 organizations participated, offering various resources and services for families. The festival fostered a supportive atmosphere for discussions about mental health, underscoring the importance of community in building resilience.

A special highlight included performances from students inspired by Social Emotional Learning, featuring dances and poetry from schools across the county, including Rancho Santana, Aromas-San Juan Unified School District, Hollister Dual Language Academy, and Hollister High School. The San Benito County Office of Education emphasized, ‘The event’s success shows our commitment to family well-being. With the positive reception from the community, we anticipate the Family Wellbeing Festival becoming an annual tradition in San Benito County!’

Breakout sessions at the festival were led by notable figures including Roy and Libby Sims from Ohm Yoga, Franz Magalit from Soluna, and David Flores from Mindful Life Project.

Participating agencies included SPIN, Stars Therapy Services, YMCA of San Benito County, Youth Recovery Connections, and various others dedicated to improving family well-being in the region.
