Rowan’s Annual Health and Wellness Fair

On March 27, the Recreation Center at Rowan University buzzed with activity as it held its much-anticipated annual Health and Wellness Fair. This event featured a variety of vendors offering resources that align with the university’s Strive to Thrive program, aimed at enhancing student well-being.

The Rowan Thrive framework promotes a balanced lifestyle by addressing students’ physical, social, emotional, community, purpose, and financial needs. The fair served as a platform to encourage participation in these resources available on campus.

Diverse Offerings and Community Engagement

The fair showcased a wide array of vendors, from different workout classes offered by the Recreation Center to services focused on physical and mental wellness, alongside nutritional advice. Notably, participants could also enjoy offerings from Playa Bowls, indulge in spa-grade massages, and receive free succulent plants.

Kathleen Huber, the event coordinator and assistant of Fitness and Wellness with Campus Recreation, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration among various departments and vendors. ‘I always enjoy working with all the different departments and vendors,’ Huber stated. ‘We even have student clubs come and join in for the fair. I think it’s very important for all students to be involved with campus, and it truly is amazing to work in an environment that puts that first.’

Student Perspectives

Ryan Ems, a graduate student and one of the assistants for Fitness and Wellness, shared his experience at the fair. ‘I’m excited to see the different aspects that Rowan Thrive has to offer, and it impresses me to see how it helps many students. I feel like this experience will help strengthen my goals to increase the Rowan community and make all students feel welcome here on campus,’ Ems remarked.

Students engaged actively with the various vendors, including Michael Sanchez, an 18-year-old junior majoring in law and justice. Sanchez noted, ‘I’m always involved with the Rec Center in some capacity. I use the gym facilities here and I’m a part of a few intramural sports the Rec offers, so I thought it would be good to get connected and informed with even more things Rowan has.’

Another participant, 21-year-old mechanical engineering junior Nina Stonitsch, shared her insights: ‘I come to the Rec Center to use the gym and the fitness group classes they have, and that’s where I learned the fair was happening. I already have learned a few things that can help me practice good habits, and I think more people should come and enjoy that.’

Conclusion

The fair was a reflection of Rowan University’s commitment to supporting student health and well-being through community engagement and resource availability. This vibrant event reinforced the importance of campus involvement and wellness culture at Rowan.
