Supporting Seniors with Fresh Food

The Adopt A Grandparent Farmers Market & Garden Program is gearing up for its 2025 launch and is reaching out for community support. This initiative provides low-income seniors with much-needed access to fresh fruits and vegetables and aims to improve their overall well-being. Many seniors face challenges in affording nutritious food, leading to limited access to the basic essentials of healthy living.

As the program states, ‘Having access to fresh food should be something everyone can easily obtain.’ Unfortunately, for many seniors, this reality is far from achievable. In addition to the financial constraints they face, seniors residing in nursing homes are often further restricted from enjoying simple pleasures such as fresh snacks.

Join the Cause

The program aims to offer FREE Farmers Markets at nursing facilities, where seniors can gather, socialize, and enjoy free shopping for items they truly need and enjoy. The positive impact on their emotional and physical health has been evident at every market organized.

To support this initiative, individuals can adopt a grandparent through a $25 sponsorship, which directly covers the costs of food and supplies during these markets. Donations can also be made via Zelle or through established links to platforms like Go Fund Me.

Additional Support Needed

The organizers further highlight the importance of community involvement, stating that ‘Our wish list has items needed for these programs, and if you can help, that would be wonderful.’ Any items purchased to help seniors can be delivered to their local Crystal Lake office.

For further information or to inquire about getting involved, please visit the official program website or contact them directly.
