The Cherry Blossom Season Arrives Early in Tokyo

Cherry Blossoms Blooms Early in Tokyo, Welcoming Spring

The Japan Meteorological Agency has announced that the cherished cherry tree monitored in Tokyo has come into full bloom as of Sunday. The Somei-Yoshino tree located at Yasukuni Shrine, situated in Chiyoda Ward, has blossomed five days earlier than the same time last year and a day ahead of the typical blooming pattern.

The agency determines full bloom status when 80% or more of the tree’s buds are open, signifying that spring is officially underway in the capital.

On the same Sunday, similar cherry trees also blossomed fully in the cities of Wakayama and Matsuyama, contributing to a picturesque spring landscape across western Japan.
