Jackson Park Yacht Club Hosts Seasonal Wellness Fair to Promote Healthy Living
CHICAGO – In a bid to encourage community members to prioritize their health, the Jackson Park Yacht Club (JPYC) held its seasonal wellness fair this past Sunday. The event aimed to inspire attendees to take charge of their health through informative sessions and products offered by various vendors.
Among the vendors was Chef Tatiana Winters, owner of Peace of Mine Sweets and Spice in Englewood. After facing kidney failure last year, Winters transformed her eating habits and successfully improved her kidney function. “My kidneys, when I went into renal failure, were functioning under 5%,” she explained. “After three months, I got them functioning to 30% and now a year later, I’m at 55% because I’ve managed to change my diet and go raw.” Winters focuses on creating nutrient-rich products and using her journey to motivate others to embrace healthier lifestyles.
Arlis Ball, the Entertainment Chair for the JPYC, highlighted the positive impact that information shared at the fair has on the community’s health. “One woman came in and she started working on one of the detoxes with one of the other vendors that’s here and she’s lost 50 pounds since the last event,” Ball remarked, illustrating the fair’s role in promoting beneficial health changes.
Additionally, D’Bora Emory introduced attendees to phototherapy patches, which she claimed help in activating the body’s stem cell growth. She stated, “And also awakens those that have gone dormant through the aging process. With that comes about a whole new healing modality.” Emory’s sister, April, shared her personal experience with the patches after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure. “After a month, I no longer had to have the surgery and that was just life-changing for me,” she revealed, emphasizing the potential benefits of this alternative therapy.
The wellness fair brought together various health resources under one roof, fostering a community spirit centered on holistic well-being. Attendees left with new insights and inspiration to enhance their health journeys as the JPYC continues to advocate for healthier living.
For those seeking to improve their overall health, events like these showcase the power of community support and knowledge sharing.
